(Also - G/S/C had a battery in the cartridge in order to keep the clock going. That dies after a while, obviously, and it messed up the entire game. =( None of them will work now, pretty much.)

this is a problem with gen 2&3 games. basically because the game cart has it's own battery (so it remembers the time and stuff) and when that battery runs out it seriously messes the game up, because it can't remember the real time stuff it can't save your game. nintendo do not manufacture spares, but it is...
